Welcome

Hello my fellow Anglophones and welcome to Expat1150, a blog dedicated to settling down as much as an expat can and making a host country community feel like home.  When my spouse landed work in Brussels we researched, visited and ultimately chose to live in Woluwe Saint Pierre.  We loved the neighborhoods, the easy access to public transportation and parks, the wonderful Stockel Market, the restaurants scattered throughout and the shops, especially in the newly renovated Place Dumond.

As an expat, there’s a lot to take on board — language, customs, laws.  Acclimating and understanding is not always easy, especially when learning the languages from scratch.  It has to be said:  Learning French and/or Flemish will always help to integrate, but help in our mother tongue is still needed along the way.  Come join me in sinking down roots by experiencing all this beautiful “village within a city” has to offer.
